04:42 pm - The Slipper Fairy
Here's my latest ACEO, just finished this last weekend. I saw this orchid in
person!! Can you tell I'm excited? It was in Muir Woods, my favorite place to
hike. I didn't know the name at the time, but when I looked it up after I got
home the common name for this flower is "Fairy Slipper" how cool is
that? oh, of course I should mention I modified it just a tiny bit to emphasize the slipper- like qualities.
When I was drawing this, I kept imagining what it'd be like for this little fairy to have to wake up and find a new pair of shoes :)

Oh that is just TOO cute. I'm going to think of this painting every time I see those flowers!!
I didn't know Muir Woods was a real place, I have a song by that name in my mp3 collection that is very pretty. :)

Thanks!! Ooh, you have those flowers where you live too? cool :)
Yes, Muir Woods is a real place just a 1/2hr drive or so from San Francisco (north of the Golden Gate Bridge) here's the website: http://www.nps.gov/muwo/index.htm
Another interesting fact is every year around Sept./ Oct. ladybugs congregate in the hundreds there. It's amazing.

Just curious, would you mind sharing who did the song by the name Muir Woods?

Cool about the ladybugs!! It's a wonder I've never heard of it really!
The Muir Woods song is by Thom Brennan, it's an ambient piece with no words. Pretty though. :)

i love litty bitty orchids and the thought that nestled next to them collecting the flowers for slippers are little darlings like this one , fills me with joy
